DSP stands for Deputy Superintendent of Police in Hindi, it is an elevated post in Police Department. The person who holds this post is entrusted with the responsibility of many rights in the police department, on the basis of which he can reach and inspect any area. To become DSP, the candidates are selected by the Haryana Civil Services Examination. In this post, the candidate is given a good salary along with respect.

How to Become a DSP in Haryana 2023?

There are two ways to become a Deputy Superintendent of Police or DSP. One is direct and the second is by promotion from the post of sub-inspector:-

Direct: The State Public Service Commission conducts the State Civil Services Examination in every state of India. This is called the Group I exam. If you clear it, then you can become Deputy Superintendent of Police directly after training in the state police academy.

By Promotion: Similarly, in every state of India, the state-level Police Recruitment Board conducts examinations for recruitment to the post of Sub Inspector (SI). If cleared the exam then become SI after training in Police Academy. Depending on your performance, you are promoted to Inspector and DSP ranks in the future.

How to Prepare for the Exam of Haryana DSP

  • For preparing for this exam, the candidate should solve the question paper asked in previous years.
  • You can also do your preparation with the help of the internet.
  • For this preparation, the coaching institute can get help.
  • For the physical test, you should start preparing six months before the exam. You should run, long jump, and swim in the morning so that your body will remain fit.
  • Exam preparation for HCS should be done according to the syllabus.

Eligibility for the post of DSP in Haryana

Educational Qualifications: It has been kept as a graduate while applying, it is mandatory for the candidate to pass the graduation examination, candidates in the final year of graduation can also participate in this examination, but the marks of passing at the time of document verification Letter must be provided.

Age limit for becoming DSP

  • For General- 21 years to 30 years
  • OBC for 21 years to 33 years
  • 21 years to 35 years for the applicants of ST/SC

Physical Measurement 

To become a DSP, men require 168 cm physical height and 84 cm chest and women require 155 cm physical height. Body height can vary according to each state.

DSP salary

A DSP gets a salary in the pay band of 9300-34800 with a grade pay of 5400.

Selection Process

The DSP exam is conducted by the Haryana Public Service Commission, this exam is divided into three parts. Which are as follows-

  • Pre Examination
  • Main Examination
  • Interview

Preliminary Examination: To become DSP, the candidates have to pass the preliminary examination in the first phase, in this examination general study questions are asked for which 150 marks have been prescribed, in this the optional subject is given 300 marks.

Main Exam: Candidates who pass the preliminary examination are given the opportunity to appear in the main examination. In this examination, Indian Language 300 marks, English 300 marks, Essay 200 marks, General Study 300 marks, and marks for the optional subjects are prescribed in two digits under compulsory subject.

Interview: After passing the main examination, the student is given the opportunity to participate in the interview, the interview is conducted by the commission, and the interview has to be given before the committee set by the commission, in which the mental level of the candidate is checked. If you pass it, then you are appointed to the post of DSP.
